Schwerdt Family

Linde, Tyler, Tracy, Trena and Dale Schwerdt

Farm History: Our farm is a 2nd generation farm started in 1929 by Dale's parents. We grain farm and in 1985 we purchased 5 bred heifers. Since then we have used select AI sires and herdsires to build our herd of 55 cows to what it is today.
Breeding Goals: We strive to breed moderate birth rates with growth. We like dark red, thick, long bodied cattle.
Nutrition Program: Bull calves are fed a hay / silage ration with minimal grain. Heifers are fed a hay / silage ration. Cows are fed hay with no grain.
Achievements: We have had Grand and Supreme Champion bull at the Peace Country Classic Show. There have been several 1st and 2nd placings in classes at Farmfair plus Reserve Champion Bull Calf at Lloydminster Roundup in 2000. The Reserve Champion Angus Female at Farmfair and Grand Champion Angus Female at Agribition in 2000 was raised by Flyaway Red Angus.
Genetic Source: Our herdsire is Red Kluzak Thunderman 12 E (a Trek son). We also use AI sires like Rambo 502, BJR Chief 811, Chactaw Chief 373, Red Flyaway Rambo's Arnold, Red BHC Sandstone, and Red PBC D0202 6M H0904.
Additional Sales: We have embryo's from Rambo 502 for sale plus semen from Red Flyaway Rambo's Arnold. Our Bulls are sold off the farm. We sell females at the Red Roundup Superstar Sale in Red Deer, Alberta (October) and the All AI'ed Sale in Olds, Alberta (November).
