Farm History: The initial 30 Simmental cows purchased produced their first calf crop in 1971. After 30 years of breeding that included imported bloodlines from Switzerland, Woodsong has built up to a herd of 280 full blood Simmental cows.
Breeding Goals: Woodsong strives to raise top quality Simmental seedstock with emphasis on sound cattle with natural thickness and superior overall performance.
Nutrition Program: All of our cattle are fed silage based rations with limited grain.
Achievements: Over the years Woodsong has had several successes at numerous cattle shows across Canada. Recently Woodsong was presented with the A.O. Henuset Memorial Award of Distinguished Service by the Manitoba Simmental Association.
Genetic Source: Primarily genetics are from various North American breeders. An A.I. program has been in use for several years.
Additional Sales: Semen and embryos year round.
Upcoming Events: 2003 Annual Bull sale March, 2003 at the farm.
